My name is Brandin Michael Boyd. I am 18 years old and I am a senior at South Broward High School.
I came to Florida in the middle of seventh grade and attended New River Middle School. I was in the magnet program, and up
to that point I knew nothing about the ocean and its components. I fell in love with the subject and wanted to become
a marine biologist. When i found out that South Broward had the same program, i had to come. And so here I am, still in the
magnet program, but don't want to be a marine biologist anymore. Instead, I plan on studying Black history in college
and becoming a Black history teacher. I became fascinated with Black hisrory, in particular, this year and I have wanted
to teach for a while. I feel as if African Americans have yet to feel equal to White Americans. I believe that
Whites, still, feel superior to Blacks, and in my opinion, it is disturbing. With me feeling this way, I would like to educate
others how Black people are just as beautiful as White people. Before I become a teacher, I plan to travel
the world. I am already starting this summer by backpacking Europe.
